HOW GOOD IS MILK OF MAGNESIA FOR OILY SKIN?

Milk of Magnesia, an antacid and laxative, often referred to as a wonderful, and inexpensive primer for people with oily skin. Milk of Magnesia works well but a regular use can do more harm than good to your skin. There are several reasons and they are:
Milk of Magnesia is an effective oil absorber
The active ingredient in Milk of Magnesia is Magnesium Hydroxide, a substance that has the ability to absorb lipids on the skin. The degreasing action of MOM is also enhanced by another of its components, Sodium Hypochlorite,commonly known as bleach. If you smear MOM all over your oily skin,you will soon a great reduction on shine.
The problem with Milk of Magnesia
It is bad for skin because of its alkaline ph. The skin's ph is slightly acidic,which creates a good environment for good bacteria that live on our skin and can protect it from nasty ones, and everything else,that constantly attacks it. When this acidic mantle is damaged,skin becomes dry,and more prone to irritations and even acne.
That is why skincare products are formulated within the skin's pH range(from 5 to 8). Milk of Magnesia has PH of 10.5. This is way too high and if MOM is used regularly, it can cause havoc on your skin.

WHAT DO I DO?
If you have been applying MOM to your skin,just discontinue use. Don't worry there are other ways to deal with oily skin. Here are a few topical “cosmetic” absorbents that can easily replace MOM:

WHAT IS YOUR SKIN TYPE?

Good morning fabulous people,TGIF.I got emails and suggestions that i should write a post on skin types.I had read several articles on how to make my skin better before i got my holy grail which is black soap.
A popular Russian saying states that,after the age of 30,a woman looks the way she deserves...If you always want to look great,the first step is to determine your skin type this will help improve your skin and slow ageing process.
Skin types include normal,oily,dry,and sensitive. There are some people who have a combination of skin types in different areas of their skin

 NORMAL SKIN TYPE
Normal skin is not too dry and not too oily. It has:

* A radiant complexion
* Barely visible pores
* No or few imperfections
* No severe sensitivity

 COMBINATION SKIN TYPE
A combination skin type can be dry or normal in some areas and oily in others,such as T-zone (nose,forehead,and chin). A lot of people have combination skin,which may be due to different types of skin care in different areas.

Combination skin can produce:
* Shiny skin
* Blackheads
* Overly dilated pores

DRY SKIN TYPE
Dry skin can produce:
* Dull complexion
* Almost invisible pores
* More visible lines
* Less elasticity

When exposed to drying factors,skin can crack or become itchy or irritated. If your skin is very dry,it can become rough especially on the backs of your hands,arms,and legs.

Dry skin maybe caused or made worse by:

* Genetic factors
* Aging or hormonal changes
* Ingredients in soaps,cosmetics,or cleansers
* Medications

Here are some tips for taking care of dry skin:

* Use mild,gentle soaps or cleansers
* Do not scrub while bathing or drying
* Wear gloves when using cleaning agents,solvents, or household detergents
* Use a rich moisturiser right after bathing

OILY SKIN TYPE
Oily skin can produce:

* Enlarged pores
* Dull or shiny complexion
* Blackheads,pimples, or other blemishes

To take care of oily skin:

* Wash your skin not more than twice daily
* Use a gentle cleanser and do not scrub
* Use products labeled "noncomedogenic". They tend not to clog pores
* Do not pick,pop, or squeeze pimples. This prolongs healing time

SENSITIVE SKIN TYPE
If your skin is sensitive,try to find out what your triggers are so you can avoid them. You may have sensitive skin for a variety of reasons,but often it is in response to particular skin care products

Sensitive skin can show up as:

* Itching
* Dryness
* Burning

BASICS OF SKIN CARE
* Wash your skin thoroughly everyday and do not wear makeup to bed
* Moisturise your skin
* Stay hydrated
